It all started during a Republican presidential primary debate in January. ABC’s co-moderator George Stephanopoulos forcefully pressed candidate Mitt Romney on whether he believed the U.S. Supreme Court should overturn a 1965 ruling that a constitutional right to privacy bars states from banning contraception. Romney was obviously shocked by the bizarre question given that the availability of birth control was not a question in any of our 50 states. Stephanopoulos doggedly pursued the topic for several minutes (Romney referred to the topic as a “silly thing”) until the audience finally booed the co-moderator. In later days, Romney brought up the off-the-wall exchange, excoriating Obama for his attack on religious freedoms (the Obama administration was pushing for private Catholic health organizations to be forced to pay for birth control, sterilization and abortion– something which goes against their faith). By then Romney was plowing head first into the religious freedom theme while the Democrats had something else in store for Romney - the bogus “Republican War on Women.”
By February the Democrats were in full hysteria mode, talking about the forced intrusion of vaginal ultrasound (balking at the suggestion that a pregnant woman should have an ultrasound prior to having an abortion). Many women, after seeing the results of an ultrasound decide against the abortion. Of course, most Planned Parenthood facilities perform an ultrasound prior to an abortion for medical reasons anyway.
Kathleen Sebelius of the Department of Health and Human Services later announced that it was cutting ALL Medicaid funding for family planning to the state of Texas after Governor Rick Perry signed a law that prohibited any business that performs abortions from participating and receiving tax dollars (from the program). Planned Parenthood responded by filing a lawsuit against the State of Texas.
In March, the Obama campaign introduced us to Sandra Fluke – the fake impoverished law student (actually a 31- year- old feminist activist) who lied about how much she has to pay for birth control pills (they are $9 a month at Target in DC) at a fake staged committee hearing (actually a press conference). Fluke demanded that taxpayers pay for her birth control.
April, the Obama campaign brought out the big guns, including lesbian feminist whackjob, Hilary Rosen who attacked Ann Romney, “Guess what, his wife has never actually worked a day in her life." The offensive line of BS continued with her making up some new propaganda saying, "Romney seems so old fashioned when it comes to women."Meanwhile that same week Obama hosted Common at the White House who in his "hit" single, "Ghetto Dreams" said, “I want a bitch that look good and cook good…Butt naked in the kitchen flippin pancakes.”
The counterfeit “Republican War on Women” was prominently featured at the Democrat National Convention, with adults walking around dressed as giant plush stuffed pink vaginas, many sporting buttons that said, “Sluts Vote,” and Planned Parenthood passing out condoms with the label, “Protect Yourself from Romney & Ryan in this election!”
This week, the president’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter made a statement about women and their general interest in presidential politics:
“We’ll continue doing what we have been doing, trying to get the president’s message out on the ground. Whether it’s in the suburban areas of Northern Virginia, or Denver, Ohio, to talk about what the president wants to do in the future,” Cutter proclaimed on NPR’s “The Diane Rehm Show. “That’s the other thing that you find most often with women. They’re not really concerned about what’s happened over the last four years, they really want to know what’s going to happen in the next four years.”
Uh- ok. So all women care about is whether or not they can get free $9 a month birth control, not about the state of our nation, the economy spiraling into an abyss, or the fact the our current President lies so much it has reached pathological proportions?
Everyone from Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood to NOW began to accuse Romney of wanting to take women “back to the 1950s.” Obama himself added a line to his campaign stump speeches: “They want to take us back to the policies more suited to the 1950s than the 21st century." The Democrats have gone so far as to produce an ad with a woman dressed in a 1950s style A-line dress, pearls, and pumps that prominently featured a coat hanger.
The reality is that Democrats want to take us back to the 1970s. Outdated mantras from the “feminist movement” such as using birth control to promote sexual “freedom,” abortion on demand, and “equal pay” were central themes during the turbulent times. These themes were also prominently featured at the 2012 Democrat National Convention. The real problem is that the feminist agenda was imposed on society with no admission of the severity of the unintended (negative) consequences.
Sexual freedom has led to the sexualization of the culture – including children. While women are now “free” to sleep with whomever or whatever they want – marriage is decline. And who suffers the most – women and children. Sexually transmitted disease (including the deadly HIV virus) is at record levels. Abortion is available on demand. Your daughter can go to school in New York, receive a morning after pill AT SCHOOL without your knowledge or consent but she cannot buy a soft drink larger than 16 ounces. Women and children have been catapulted into poverty because two -parent households have become increasingly rare. Because of the feminist agenda, health consequences of long-term usage of the hormones in birth control, or the emotional and physical consequences of abortion have not been brought to light.
Statistics about equal pay have been doctored to suit the mantra that women are still not paid the same. Women work fewer hours and tend to migrate to industries that are paid less (by choice). Women tend to take off time (months or years) to care for children, losing skills and career momentum. Single women under 35 are actually paid more than men in every case. Once these items are all factored in – women are not “paid less” than men at all.
The real “War on Women” has been the result directly from the liberal progressive agenda. Attacking women who chose not to work, doctoring income stats, ignoring consequences of sex and abortion have been brought forth by the Democrats. The Democrats continue to push their lies – as reflected by the asinine statement of Stephanie Cutter, claiming that women don’t care about what’s happened over the past four years. Hiding Obama’s dismal record of last four years is the only way they could possibly win the election.
