FROM LAMBCHOP: Today is a special day in that we are "kicking the blog up a notch." I have added a new partner in blog crime, and I wanted you to preview his vital stats first before the rest of the crowd. This gentleman is the real deal and will add professionalism," inside baseball" knowledge of how government works, and a laser-like focus on politics, government and the armed services.
“Posca” is a pseudonym. Originally, it referred to an ancient Greek drink mixing water, wine, and herbs. Very soon, you will understand why this pseudonym is apt. Our “Posca” is a grossly irresponsible man who refuses to be constrained by convention, even though he appears to be the opposite. In fact, he has managed to live several parallel lives, not all of which can be fully detailed. In one of his lives, he was a scholar; he received his PhD from Boston University after 5 years at the feet of J.N. Findlay. He is officially Findlay’s last doctoral candidate (he was awarded Findlay’s cross). In another life he managed to fulfill a lifelong desire to become an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician by successfully completing DoD’s NAVSCOLEOD in Indian Head MD. Those of you who have encountered EOD Techs are no doubt asking: Is he an arrogant asshole? Yes, he is, especially since he completed EOD school before the age of little flimsy robots and body armor. In a third life, he was a master teacher who was selected for the prestigious Pew Faculty Fellowship in International Affairs at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government (94-95). He considers himself a strong devotee of Active Learning. From August, 2000 to August, 2002, he was assigned to the US Embassy, Kuwait City, Kuwait as a “Security Assistance Officer” (Military Advisor). This means he was in the Arabian Gulf when the USS Cole was treacherously attacked, when September 11 happened, and when Operation Enduring Freedom was fought. To say the least, he has an interesting perspective on these events. In February 2003, Gen Buzz Moseley invited him to be his Deputy Director of Staff for Phase 3/Air (major combat phase) for Iraqi Freedom. He of course did not decline this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Again, fascinating insight and experience. Along the way he has been a SAC Special Weapons Officer, an Air Force Scientist, and an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Air Force Academy. In addition to the Bronze Star, he has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, among others. He is the REAL author of Air Force Core Values—aka “The Little Blue Book”—which he produced at the direction of the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Although he can be tired and cranky, and is occasionally subject to fits of madness, he sees the spark of God in every man and finds it marvelous. He is also occasionally depressed by the gulf of ignorance separating Americans from people who really, really want to be our friends. He is an unabashed patriot who believes the Constitution details the structure of the greatest form of government ever produced by man. ~POSCA, November, 2012
