From Washington Free Beacon:
Moonbat congressman Rep. Raul Grijalva (D., Ariz.), the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is not letting a crisis go to waste. Raul is attempting to use the government shutdown to force the Department of the Interior to cease all oil and gas exploration on federal land. Rep. Grijalva is using an oddly illogical argument to justify his position – if hikers and campers can’t be on federal land then polluting energy exploration companies should be barred as well.
Raul obviously got an “A” in Alinsky studies when he and fellow moonbat Rep. Tom Udall (D., Colo.) tried to impose a 12.5 % tax on miners who profited from any mining on federal land during the “fiscal cliff” impasse in 2012. He has also opposed the Keystone XL Pipeline expansion.
Grijalva started an online petition this week against the DOE and Agriculture Secretary Vilsack to “stop mining [on] public lands while visitors are locked out.” As the ranking member of the House National Resources Subcommittee, he sent a letter last week calling for fossil fuel exploration and extraction to stop “until visitors can return.”
Grijalva, in order to create a straw bogeyman for his liberal audience, exaggerates the “dangers” of oil and gas exploration as a secondary reason why oil and gas extraction and exploration should stop during the shutdown claiming there are not enough first responders to an emergency or something.
“The lack of oversight of these potentially hazardous activities greatly concerns me, especially because of the scarcity of manpower to respond to emergencies, pollution issues or other rapid response needs,” he wrote.
Not sure if Raul is referring to hikers and campers who would certainly be quite helpful during a gusher?
Meanwhile Congressman Raul Grijalva's Washington, D.C. office confirmed the congressman was arrested yesterday for participation at an immigration reform rally "sit-in" calling for immigration legislation that allows amnesty.
