The Florida Senate race is critical to the Republican strategy for 2012. U.S. Rep. Connie Mack is challenging fiscally liberal incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson. Mack is truly one of short list of conservative legislators that have actually “walked the talk” and is making a balanced budget amendment a cornerstone of his campaign.
Today the Mason-Dixon Poll reported that Senator Bill Nelson has a five point lead over Republican challenger Rep. Connie Mack IV. The Mason-Dixon is a poll out of Jacksonville, Fla. Among independents, Nelson reportedly had a lead of 50 percent to 39 percent. Interestingly, according to the poll, Nelson’s negative ratings were 28%. Even the Tampa Bay Times has conceded that Nelson is “vulnerable” in the race.
The more reliable Rasmussen poll showed Connie Mack leading by nine points.
Floridians have most likely gotten wise to Obamacare, the failed stimulus, the auto bailout, and Dodd Frank and are tired of the interchangeable Bill Nelsons of the world who stand by Obama’s failed liberal economic policies in the face of the consistent evidence that they JUST DON’T WORK.
Connie Mack was one of the few congressmen with the cajones to offer up a financial plan, The Mack Penny Plan, which the left cannot even dispute and has conceded that the plan actually “adds up”. Mack has been endorsed by a long list of conservative “rock stars”: Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Senator Mike Lee, Senator George LeMieux, Senator Rand Paul, Governor Luis Fortuño, Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FreedomWorks, Jeb Bush, Jr., Sean Hannity, and TEA Party of Florida.
