“Josh had a really big heart, and he just loved giving people what they wanted,” said Josh Flaherty’s mother Linda. “When he told me about the project, I thought to myself, Josh is a smart kid and he’s made good at this Internet thing so far. What could go wrong?

Josh Flaherty, 22,  of New Jersey  met an untimely end seeking internet humor and fame when his prank ended in catastrophe.

Joshua passed away from a bacterial infection resulting from a gastrointestinal perforation.

What caused the perforation and subsequent septic infection? 

You guessed it: rectal insertion of ten pounds of hickory smoked bacon.

Who knew gerbils liked bacon?

So the doctors were right after all. Bacon really IS bad for your health.

I have read that each pound of bacon takes 10 hours off of your life expectancy. A little math shows that I should live until 1947.
