Phil expresses the emotions of Sunday at the Ryder Cup. On a positive note, that is the best-looking shirt that he has worn all year.
Well, I am still IN SHOCK over the Team USA Rider Cup Meltdown. I "live tweeted" the event and this morning, I confess to having a tweet hangover of sorts. All you need to know is that we blew an unbelievable lead, and the ghost of Seve Ballesteros was moving the hole on the greens so that the euro team's putts would go in. Team USA Captain Davis Love III decided to have Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods (who were the only two players who had not won ANY points during the previous two days of Ryder Cup matches) as anchors. Bad decision. I have also decided that the ubiquitous presence of George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush at Saturday's matches probably made us lose. When in Chicago (or the White House), blame Bush.
Errant contributor and constant comment guard dog, German Shepherd, gives the rundown better than I could possibly begin to describe the sad happenings over the RC weekend.
You look at these pairings and I didn't expect to lose the first 5 matches, win 3 and then lose 4 out of the last 5 pairs. Looking back it deserves a catchy name. I suggest the Chi-town choke. We can now dissect the wisdom of Davis Love III's captains picks, as I'm sure will happen. The visual of Jim Furyk melting down on another Sunday is just mind-boggling.Brandt Snedeker seemed to run out of gas. Bubba never found a rhythm. Tiger is still looking for a Las Vegas cocktail waitress to share his Wednesday evenings. Steve Stricker hasn't been the same since he nearly clocked LambChop with an errant drive last year at the Shell Houston Open. Kucher fell flat. Not that there were no bright spots, but 3.5 points on a Sunday will not get you anywhere. But damn! That was some exciting golf. If only CBS would get the broadcast rights and Johnny Miller would retire. - German Shepherd
