New Report Shows Homegrown Terrorist Threat Comes from "Decimated" Al-Qaeda

A report was just released on Al-Qaeda in the United States. Despite Obama’s REPEATED claims after the Benghazi attack that Al-Qaeda has been “decimated”, is “on the path to defeat” and “on the run,” Al Qaeda remains a significant threat in the world today.

“We achieved our central goal, which is — or have come very close to achieving our central goal — which is to de-capacitate al Qaeda, to dismantle them, to make sure that they can’t attack us again,” Obama said.

However, the Obama administration seemed to ignore the recently released report that shows Al Qaeda has diversified and adapted.

The report studied 171 individuals who were part of Al-Qaeda and who were convicted of attacks between 1997 and 2011. The report cited some interesting stats:

95% of Attacks were committed by men with a mean average age of 29.6 years old.
54% were committed by U.S. Citizens, followed by Saudi Arabians and Pakistanis.
25% were of Western Asian ancestry; 11% Saudi ancestry; 10% African American; 8% Caucasian.

These statistics fly in the face of the 2009 Department of Homeland Security 9-page report that suggested the real homegrown terror threat was unnamed "rightwing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, abortion, increasing federal power and restrictions on firearms. The report singled out returning war veterans as susceptible to recruitment by dangerous groups. Strangely, the report cited Timothy McVeigh as an example despite the fact that here was no evidence that McVeigh was in any way religiously, ideologically or politically motivated or belonged to any militia. Furthermore it was reported that McVeigh’s partner in crime, Terry Nichols, had ties to Islamic terrorists in the Philippines. Department of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano vociferously defended the report: “Let me be very clear: We monitor the risks of violent extremism taking root here in the United States." Unless they are members of Al-Qaeda?
