Former Representative Gabby Giffords no doubt was the victim of a horrible crime - a crime where a gun happened to be used. Giffords has made strides in her recovery and has used her attack to promote gun control, with her husband Mark Kelly at her side. The two have formed a gun control group.
Recently, Kelly purchased an AR-15 and a 1911 style pistol plus high capacity magazines from a gun store in Arizona.
According to Breitbart.com, Mark Kelly wrote about his experience on Facebook:
I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a .45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don't have possession of it yet but I'll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do.
In what seems to be a symbolic purchase, Kelly must be trying to make a point. What exactly is the point? That a law-abiding citizen with a clean background can legally purchase a rifle, a pistol and magazines from a gun store? That there is an enforced delay of taking possession of the rifle? How does this help his case for gun control? The system in place is obviously utilized responsibly by gun purveyors.
Maybe Kelly is going to resell the guns to the drug cartels in Mexico? After all, we already know that Attorney General Eric Holder would certainly support that action. Ask murdered Border Agent Brian Terry’s family.
