Paula Deen’s empire was brought down by bogus claims of sexual harassment and racial discrimination. The media’s hysteria to brand Deen a racist before any FACTS came to light is a travesty.
ALL CLAIMS against the famous television chef have been dismissed in the suit brought by former restaurant manager Lisa Jackson in Savannah, Georgia. A federal judge a few weeks before threw out the race discrimination claims and this was barely covered by the same “news” outlets that ran Deen’s story over and over again at the beginning of the summer.
Jackson sued on the grounds that the work environment at Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, owned by Deen and her brother, subjected employees to sexual harassment and racial discrimination. Deen admitted during a deposition to using the “n-word” to her husband 30 years ago, the deposition contents became public and Deen was fired by the Food Network within days. Her cookbook publisher scurried away (despite a public outpouring of support for Deen who catapulted the cookbook in to record-breaking presales). Large sponsors and cookware partners also joined the ridiculous witch hunt against Deen fled issuing punitive statements – Walgreens, J.C. Penny, Wal-Mart, Smithfield Foods.
DEEN”S STATEMENT:
"While this has been a difficult time for both my family and myself, I am pleased that the judge dismissed the race claims and I am looking forward to getting this behind me, now that the remaining claims have been resolved. During this time my faith has strengthened me and the tremendous outpouring of support as well as prayers from folks from all walks of life has been both humbling and overwhelming. I am confident that those who truly know how I live my life know that I believe in kindness and fairness for everyone. Lisa Jackson worked at Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House for more than five years and we appreciate her service. Moving forward my team and I are working to review the workplace environment issues that were raised in this matter and to retool all of my businesses operations. I look forward to getting back to doing what I love."
This is the America that MLK envisioned: Where 2 fat girls could find success, regardless of the color of their skin.
