Former RNC Chair Michael Steele Calls Current RNC Chair Reince Preibus a "Numbnuts"

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said Tuesday he could win a steel cage match against his successor, Reince Priebus.

Steele went on to say, proving once and for all that he is a bonafides idiot and permanent embarrassment to the GOP in his obtuse rant that Priebus is a "numbnuts." Steele has even eclipsed former  Democrat Party Chair Howard Dean’s public humiliations of himself and his party. Not an easy thing to do.

Steele, the RNC's first African-American leader when he took the post in 2009, lost the chair to Priebus in 2011 after embarrassing public gaffes (thin Joe Biden) and fiscal mismanagement.  For some reason, Steele told radio host Andrea Tantaros he could beat Priebus in a steel cage fight.

"Oh, no question. I'd clean his clock," Steele said in the interview. When Tantaros asked what moves he'd use, Steel answered: "Just one knock on the head. It’s done.”

"No pile driver needed?" Tantaros asked.

"That's way too much energy for this," Steele answered.

Steele continued to hit Priebus in the interview, "I was laughing at some of these numbnuts after the election talking about, 'Oh, well we need to do a 50-state strategy,'" Steele said. "Dude, where were you for 2009 and 2010? That’s exactly what we did."

So let’s review Michael Steele’s stellar record as RNC Chair:

1) Steele ran up the RNC's debt to what initially looked like $15 million.  In the previous two non-presidential cycles, the RNC carried over $4.8 million and $3.1 million respectively in cash reserve balances into the presidential cycles. Once Steele was in charge of the pot, the RNC  entered into the 2012 presidential cycle with 100% of the RNC's $15 million in lines of credit tapped out, plus additional unpaid bills which later pushed the total to a jaw-dropping $23 million in debt.

2) Steele blew off the major donor base. And pissed them off. The RNC raised $284 million in the 2002 cycle and $243 million in the 2006 cycle, thanks to small donations and Tea Party efforts, but donations declined drastically in 2010 cycle.

3) Steele repeatedly advocated positions in public that were not part of the GOP platform: He expressing opposition to a ban on abortion and proclaimed that abortion is an “individual choice.”

4) Steele unapologetically charged $1,946.25 to his GOP expense account for a night at Hollywood’s Voyeur Club where topless women perform lesbian S&M sex acts on each other.

5) Later, Steele did not pay the bills of the RNC’s credit cards, the accounts were suspended for non-payment by the creditors.

 

 

 

 

Senator Ted Cruz Honors McCain After McCain Spent a Month Trashing Him

Okay, I know this blog is turning into Senator Ted Cruz's fan club, but the reality is that we needed this great conservative leader serving in a national post. 

McCain spent the past week bashing Senator Cruz and Senator Paul calling them "wacko birds" for their filibuster of Brennan's nomination as CIA Director. Of course McCain has attacked Cruz before during the Hagel confirmation.  And Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has continued to stick to facts and frankly conduct himself in manner with respect and class, even toward Senator McCain who reportedly harbors a grduge against Cruz since Cruz worked for the Bush campaign.

Loving to Hate Chris Christie

In a poll conducted in December, 55% of registered voters nationwide view New Jersey Governor Chris Christie favorably. Christie was the only candidate in the poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University that was viewed favorably by a majority of both men and women. Christie’s approval rating in the very blue state of New Jersey (Obama beat Romney by 17 points in NJ) is a jaw-dropping 72%. What gives?

Christie gained notoriety with viral videos of his confrontational townhall meetings and achieved gangman-style popularity during his first term, when he cut the bloated NJ state budget, eliminating a $2.2 billion deficit with mostly Democrat legislators, talked government employee unions into stopping salary hikes, and attacked the tenure system for public-school teachers. Of course, Glenn Beck’s enthusiasm and Ann Coulter’s unabashed chubby-chasing and support of Christie catapulted Christie into the forefront during the Republican primary of the presidential election. Christie later nixed rumors of a presidential run stating simply that he was “not ready.” Lately Christie has been focused on raising funds for his re-election; reports indicated he has already generated $2.1 million.

Christie has been a media darling interviewed at home on Oprah’s Next Chapter and featured as one of Barbara Walters’’ Ten Most Fascinating People” in 2012. Politically, Christie campaigned for Romney and was one of Romney’s most prominent talking media talking heads. Christie was also tapped to head the RGA, trading time with Governor Jindal. Governor Christie was rewarded for his campaign efforts featured prominently as the Republican Convention, delivering the keynote speech.

Conservatives have sounded the alarm against Christie citing Christie’s tendency to embrace middle-of-the-road pragmatism over a more principled ideology.

Of course, nothing pissed conservatives off more than Christie’s public sucking up to President Obama during Hurricane Sandy. However, conservatives failed to take into account what happened to Governor Jindal during the BP oil spill crisis and Governor Perry during the Texas wildfire disasters. Obama targeted the two states and held up federal aid, even refusing to declare Texas a federal disaster area for an extended period. No doubt Christie saw that the only way to deal with Obama was to utilize effusive flattery. And it worked.

Liberals love self-proclaimed Republicans who turn against their party which accounts for much of the bipartisan lust for a big political future for Governor Christie. And Christie has failed to tow the party line on many key issues: gun control, immigration and global warming. Christie even weighed in on the Ground Zero mosque controversy, lecturing fellow Republicans on Muslim bashing. Christie got media attention away from the fiscal cliff crises, slamming House Speaker Boehner for not returning his calls and not passing the Sandy Relief bill. Christie’s criticism of Boehner is more of the same – Christie portraying himself as the Superhero hero champion of the little people against a bloated ineffective partisan government.

Look for Christie to position himself as the outspoken critic on key issues: at once tossing some red meat to conservatives, while preaching common sense governance to moderates. Christie will end his love affair with Obama, looking for opportunities to hit Obama and congress and practice a kind of bully populism, brimming with Jersey boy smack talk.   Christie has been adept at living in both worlds and that skill will serve him well as he organizes for a possible presidential run in 2016. 

 

The Extinction of the Blue Dog

While Nancy Pelosi continues to lick her chops in anticipation of stealing her old job back from John Boehner (guess again, Nancy) one must ponder what in the heck happened to the Democrat Party? Democrats with help from the sympathetic media, have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at Mitt Romney and Republicans in general. The recipe is always the same: first portray the Republican challenger as stupid, ignorant, out of touch, and if that does not work then paint them as extreme and dangerous. Week after week Republicans (particularly conservatives) are tarred and feathered and the Party depicted as giving in to extreme factions; the truth is that it is the Democrat Party that has hurtled left with break-neck speed.

Consider the plight of the endangered species, The Blue Dog Democrat – a group of mostly southern Democrats from conservative areas of the country.  Six years ago, the Blue Dog Coalition was at its height of influence with 54 members, propelled by the negligence of Republicans to reach the electorate with a winning vision for the country. Blue Dogs preached fiscal responsibility and moderation on social issues. Once Obama was elected and Pelosi installed, the lurch left of the Democrat Party was clear. By 2010, Obama and Pelosi successfully ramrodded Obamacare through against the wishes of the majority of voters in the U.S.A. with 34 Democrats voting against it. Of these 34, most will be gone by the upcoming election of 2012.

In retaliation against Obamacare, voters turned against Democrats, and the 2010 elections were pure bloodshed for most with a D after their name on the ballot – Blue Dogs suffered heavily as Republicans got their messaging act together and the tides turned. The ranks of the Blue Dogs were sliced in half, while the remaining ludicrous left embraced socialism, kowtowed to extreme identity politics,  and entertained Bush conspiracy theories that 9/11 was rigged by the Bush/Cheney military industrial complex.

Today, there are 24 members of the Blue Dog Coalition. Roll Call reports:

If Roll Call’s race ratings bear out — that is, if all races leaning Democratic swing that way and vice versa — the group is looking at a ceiling of 19 members. That is only true if the party wins all of its Tossup races. If it loses those, membership could dwindle to as few as 14 members to start the 113th Congress.

The Blue Dogs, despite their dwindling numbers, view themselves as the bridge to compromise legislation between the hardcore left Democrats and Republicans. Most Republicans feel that the real legislative problem is Harry Reid backed by Obama.

The reality is that despite the PR, the party of extremists is the Democrat Party as evidenced by the extinction of the Blue Dogs and the Party’s promotion of  hardcore left-wing policy.

RGA Taps Jindal and Christie for Chairmanships

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) has led the transformation of the formerly uncoordinated Republican Party messaging, promoting quality candidates and explaining the basic principles of conservatism to voters. The RGA has not only helped elect Republican Governors across the nation, but has supported the Governors to encourage tort reform, cutting taxes, raising educational standards, providing new energy solutions and implementing other conservative principles.

The RGA chairmanship is the Republican equivalent of the Super bowl trophy. Chairmanship of the RGA is the most coveted post in national politics. The RGA does not shy away from conservatism in favor of less controversial and more centrist governors. 

It is no surprise that in keeping its tradition to tapping great leaders, the RGA announced that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will take over the Republican Governors Association next year, followed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in 2014, according to POLITICO. Jindal's Vice Chair will be Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Once Christie is in place, Jindal will be Vice Chair allowing each of these GOP supernovas to deal with election campaigns in the midst of their chairmanships. Both Jindal and Christie are potential presidential candidates in 2016.

The Hill reported that Newt Gingrich will attend a $500 dollar a plate fundraiser for Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) in St. Louis next week.

Gingrich has been accustomed to being branded an outsider with the GOP and has made his share of controversial public statements.

Akin has been put in "bad politician’s time out"  after he gave an interview where he babbled about rape being legitimate or something, causing a media -created firestorm that the Democrats were able to tie to their "Republicans hate every women" theme.

GOP National party organizations (and most of the GOP party leader)  turned on Akin and withdrew funding from his campaign after Akin refused to drop out of the Senate race.

Common sense has still not prevailed and Republicans would rather be “right” than earn a tremendously important Senate seat in Missouri ...which oddly, is still within Akin’s grasp.  

Once again the GOP eats their own instead of winning elections. 

 

She's Baaaack! Christine 0'Donnell Considers Another Senate Run (Sigh)

 Christine O'Donnell wrongly billed as a “tea party favorite” is considering another run for Senate in Delaware in 2014. O’Donnell lost the Senate seat to the Democrat challenger, Chris Coons in 2010. 

"I think I owe that to my supporters, to at least consider a run," O'Donnell told Delaware Online. "People sacrificed. Not only came out of their comfort zone – sacrificed to work hard in order to win the primary. And I think that I owe it to them to give it every consideration."

If this does not prove the Republican Party has a “big tent,” I do not know what will.

O’Donnell became a punch line once video of her appearance on Bill Maher’s show that aired where she said that she had  "dabbled in witchcraft.” Her campaign later ran a TV spot in which O’Donnell said, "I'm not a witch.”  She is also notorious for bizarre comments on masturbation and walking off the set during an interview with Piers Morgan.

I will be happy to start a campaign to get Christine day job so she won’t run for public office anymore. I am accepting suggestions for suitable day jobs: Barbie designer for Mattel (“Witchcraft Barbie”); Resume writer for Elizabeth Warren; production assistant on MSNBC. Just a few ideas. 

Perhaps we could get Governor Crist to set her up an office on the Democrat side of the aisle?

President Morning Joe? Say it ain't so!

  According to Vanity Fair Magazine , Joe Scarborough (former Republican Congressman from Florida) and current co-host of  MSNBC’s Morning Joe  “flirted with the idea”  of running for President against Barack Obama.

Scarborough has long been critical of the Romney campaign, and informed Vanity Fair that he will publish a memoir to “test the waters” to run for president in 2016.
